Hi guys,
Can you guys tell me why, on VF i have no red button on my VM. When i had the phone on XT when i recieved a new voicemail i had the nice little red button to let me know there was a new message. Now on VF i dont. Instead i had stupid TXTs come through and then worse i had VM ringing through straight after someone left a message that came as a blocked number so i answered it thinking it may by someone else, and as soon as you answer it, bam, they charge you!! Very quickly found out how to turn these off, but have not found how to get the red button working…
Any help ??
Cheers
Mike

I am not sure how it works with Vodafone but I do know that on XT they have some codes that need to be provisioned against your number to get the red dot to work. It basically tells the voicemail system to send a visual notifier to your device. On XT you can have a few setups, Notify Visual / Notify Visual + Audio / Notify Audio etc etc but as I say I am not sure how the Vodafone system works.
Maybe an idea to give them a call and ask them or even send them a tweet.

Even if Vodafone cannot deliver VisualVoicemail platform, then voicemail notification should be there. Then again this is the 'official' iPhone carrier in NZ. Apple should stipulate minimum level of service including VVM.

You will receive text alerts for Voicemail, if not call VF on 777 or 888 (business) for support. Vodafone don't have VVM, if any hardware provider stipulated the network layer then they would only achieve it by paying for platform, something they would not want to do, and rightly or wrongly Vodafone and many other network providers have invested substantially in their VM platform and a upgrade would be a major cost and there are still a large number of non VVM handsets in the market. It's like pantene, it won't happen overnight but it will happen

I understand you can call Vodafone NZ and request a change to ICON notification rather than SMS notification for voicemail and they will switch it over for you. This will simply activate the badge on the phone app and voicemail button. If the CSR doesn't understand the request send a PM to johnr on geekzone

Just did this myself successfully.
Not all the Customer Service Reps know this yet, but are happy to do it once they know about it (many of them and their supervisors have iPhones). It happens simply by telling them you have an iphone and requesting that the SMS notifications for Voicemail be turned off.
