Firstly my heart goes out to all those that have lost family and friends in the quake. Fortunately my friends and family are all OK. We have no structural damage, but the house is a mess.
I have just sent the following request to Steve Jobs. Hopefully it will get a positive response.

Steve,

I am writing this note form Christchurch, New Zealand where we were struck by a major earthquake on Tuesday. Currently the death toll stands at 145 with over 200 still missing and 30% of the CBD has been destroyed,

I have received notification that a number of App developers donating the proceeds of their app store sales to the Red Cross. More details can be found at http://www.appappeal.co.nz/.

I'm asking, with respect, that Apple foregoes some of the 30% charge on app sales so that this can be donated to this cause.
