Hiya every one,
My name is Chris.
Based in hamilton.
Ive had an Iphone 3G since launch date last year and upgraded to the 3Gs on the 15th.
I have had various platforms: WinMo and N 97 and so far I think the Iphone one suits me the best.
Im always keen to try things out and today Im ripping a DVD using handbrake for a trial on the Iphone.
Ive never bothered with Jailbreaking. Most of my Apps are free with a few exceptions. Quick Office and Geocaching.com , TV Guide and WeatherNZ, colloquy
So I hope some others can introduce yourselves on the forums.
I am one of the moderators for the forums

Hey Folks,
Dan here, a.k.a nzbullet. Born and raised in the UK, but now reside in ChCh and have done so for many many years. Yes that's right folks I am a bloody whinging Pom!
I have been an iPhone owner since the 1st gen, have had a 3G and now I am onto the 3GS.
I have jailbroken all three types and like to tinker with the files inside.
I created the XT Bundles you'll find here on the site and I am one of the site owners/creators.
When it comes to the iPhone I reckon I can say I know what I am talking about (after all I've been iPhoning long enough), and although never wrong I have, on occasion, been incorrect.
If you have any questions that can't be answered here feel free to just email me through the site.

love this forum software for wordpress, I am not quite a iphone junkie, more of a crackberry but I am getting ‘this’ close to getting an iphone. Just need that little ‘push’ in the right direction.

Thought I'd introduce myself here, too.
I reside in Christchurch too and am a complete tech-head. I am obsessed with my iPhone 3GS, my poor wife is a bit jealous of the attention it's getting I think.
Before the iPhone 3GS I actually owned an iPod touch (first gen) for almost two years so I'm pretty well versed in Mobile OSX. I also love Macs of all varieties although my meager budget for tech these days means I am stuck with a 2005 eMac for now. Not that's it's a bad machine, it's running Leopard and it has so much character.
If I win lotto my first purchase will be a MacBook Pro and my second purchase will be one for my wife whether she likes it or not!! BWA-HAHAHA!!
I am pretty proud of this site and I love the little community we're starting to build. Considering we've only been live just over a week I think things are going good and long may it continue.
Now, don't be shy – get using these forums!!!
Steve

Hi I'm Kevin
Just a newbee to the iPhone 3G S puurchased on the 16th July. Had been a Blackberry user so have jumped ship i guess. Ha !
Not to bad and it seams to be a great cruise ship that I jumped onto also, I like the touch rather than buttons takes some getting used to haowever once an for all Im all go now and Txt is fast
Im not so excited about Vodafone 3G service however its not that fast and alot of towns I've vistered are only GRPS so thats a Let down. Yet it works great with WiFi so I'm always on the look out for the Free Hot Spots to save on Mobile Data costs. It seams when we own a iPhone its data we use heaps of its it guys
Have enjoyed reading and learning about the new web site, however pages take time to load in the Forum I noticed, good if we can speed this up if possible.
Regards Kevin

Hi, I'm Warren. Was a Palm Treo user until Monday this week when I got my 32GB iPhone 3GS from Apple. I signed up to XT to take advantage of their great plan ($600 credit and 240MB data free) but am having serious issues with my work being in a Blackspot. Have Wifi at work and home, so not an issue for data – would just be nice to get some phonecalls and txts at work! Telecom are trying their best to fix it, though.
I am seriously amazed at the scope for personalising your phone with apps that suit your lifestyle. The technology is fantastic, but the software really makes the iphone unbeatable (IMHO).
Looking forward to using the GPS to the max for the car (when I win the ventmount ;-}), and working out how to open attachments from email!
Love the site – just wish more people would comment, get involved.

Thought it might be interesting to see who everyone here is and what they do. So do get the ball rolling here is my input.
Name is Ned, own a magazine publishing company and have magazines covering the aviation and powerboat racing fields. Spend a lot of time travelling thw world and use the iphone as my connection to my advertisers, contributors, subscribers etc.
Based in Auckland but spend about 7 months of the year travelling. Drive an 09 Audi RS4 Sedan and love it. Have used Blackberrys for ages before finally settling on the new 3GS iPhone.
Cheers
Ned

Name is Max, used to a PC technician, but failed at Computer Science last year due to I find that the course was not so for me. But I'm heading to becoming a Heavy Diesel Mechanic soon, I'm gonna do a pre-entry course next year. Basically I'm a screwed up student. But iPhone 3GS is certainly making life easier for me, I used to own a Nokia Y2K model but it didn't help me much back then maybe the iPhone is a smartphone.

Hi I suppose I could introduce myself, even though I have only just arrived on the site. One of my mates pointed me here and have found some of the info helpful, but it would have been better to have found the site before I started messing about with iphones!
I'm an ex-Airforce Avionics Technician (RNZAF) that tried his hand at running a small IT company in Hamilton until I found there was simply too much competition to make any money in a small IT company without killing myself. :-/
I'm still into electronics and more so now into computers (linux more than windows) and finding myself spending more time with my young family than anything else.
The phone I was waiting for was the new Palm Pre, it was going to be the phone for me, the iphone was nice, but I hadn't really had a play with one as none of my mates had one that I could really have a go with.
I got a 2g iphone from a mate that had a badly shattered glass. He was in the right place to give me a badly damaged 2g phone that had been (legitimately) been disposed of. So thats how it started.
I found out that after I had got itunes up and running it said I needed to update it (not knowing anything at that stage) I did as I was told and promptly locked it.
Then I found out that I had to unlock it by jailbreaking, ok did that, then proceeded to get MMS working and installed winterboard and then started using it…..
I was hooked. I wanted more, and I also wanted to stop ripping my fingertips to ribbons!
So I tempted fate and ordered a replacement glass for the 2g. Many sites tell you that its hard and nearly impossible without breaking the touch sensor. What a simple job it turned out to be! It just took time, that's all. Oh and a fair amount of patience.
Not long after getting the 2g I also got a hold of a damaged 3g, again a glass issue – not as difficult to repair as the 2g but not simple either, well ok it wasn't hard…
Anyhow to make a short story shorter, I like the iphone, it's not perfect, but what phone is?
I have used Nokia phones – will never get another one!
I have used Sony Erricson – Pretty good, but nothing like the iphone.
I refuse to use a windows based phone – it's just not right…
I want to try an android phone (it's the linux user in me)
I would take a guess that most of the users here would call their phone almost an extension of themselves, so they would have to be happy with the phone they use.
I'll stop babbling now.

Hi all,
I've just recently got my iPhone after months and months of pining. I've been a Mac user for some time so figured this was a natural addition. And now that I have it, I just dont know how I lived withouth it. AS a result, I've become a fairly big Twitter addict as well!
I'm a fairly keen gamer, mostly Xbox 360 (I know, Microsoft, but at least its something made by them that actually works!) but play the occasional Wii also.
Looking forward to being here a while.
Greg

Been here a while but I probably should post one of these.
My name is Regan and I'm a high school student from Dunedin. I own an iPhone 3GS and an iPod Touch 1G (which I will probably sell soon). I found this website via a combination of Geekzone and Twitter.
I own a MacBook 2.2GHz which I purhcased just over 2 years ago and is running great. I also own a Dell PC and operate a Linux (Ubuntu) VPS server. I guess you could say I'm pretty nuetral.
My website is http://MakCity.net — currently a blog about technology, but specifically about the iPhone. I also operate a proxy (http://p.makcity.net) on my server which anyone is welcome to use.

Hi Guys, I am Jarrad, based in Tauranga.
I have been programming for a few years, and earlier this year decided to pick up Objective-C. I do not currently have an app in the app store, however I have an NZ RSS app still pending, which is a replacement to the NZHerald news app I released earlier on this year (this app is no longer available).
I have started to write a Blog about iPhone Development @ http://iphonedeveloper.co.nz, which I plan on posting helpful code snippets, and solutions to problems I personally have found with the iPhone SDK & other library's.
I also have a bit of a love for hand-held consoles, ever spent 5 long boring minutes waiting for the bus to come? the iPhone is perfect! So I am working on a couple of little puzzle games for the iPhone in my spare time.

Hi guys,
My name's Salil and I live in Dunedin and a new father, to my iPhone 3GS, and after months and months of getting sick to the core of my guts with envy, i went out and bought one! I seem to be the last of my workmates to get one and the little Samsung I've used for the past year will migrate to a grateful teen son. ( who will undoubtedly who use the iPhone more than I do!) I bought it after weeks of hand wringing and "internet research" after justify the buy after a year of whining! Love this site and all the hard work you guys do! Viva le iPhone!
