Hey my dad is going to the states soon and i was wondering if i can purchase an iphone 4 there bring it back unlock it and is it okay to use??

does he need to ask for a iphone without an AT&T contract or is it safer to just purchase it here in NZ?

please help im worried hes gonna buy it and its not gonna work and hes spent all that money for nothing

Hi Eden, unless you're prepared for a lot of messing around hacking it and being locked out again every time there's a software update, I would steer well clear of an American iPhone. They are not much cheaper and are locked to the AT&T network. Much better off buying from a country where they are unlocked by Apple… like NZ.
