Now Showing… Flicks NZ
Here’s the heads up folks… Flicks NZ has gone live this morning. As we said in our preview it is FREE so go grab your copy now. Remember this is version 1.0 that has dropped, version 1.01 which fixes the couple of bugs we found has been submitted so shouldn’t be too far away.
[UPDATE] Version 1.0.1 has hit the AppStore as promised.

We get sent apps for review fairly regularly, some good, some bad and some that have nothing to do with New Zealand AT ALL, however today I received an email from the same team that developed the Yellow App (Smudge Apps) simply saying “Thought you’d like to have a play with the new iPhone app we’ve been working on for NZ…Let me know what you think. We’re pretty happy with it”.
Well instead of just telling them, how about I tell you good folks too….

New Zealand just got a whole new load of GPS navigation love in the shape of CoPilot Australasia [iTunes Link]. Priced at $94.99, the app is another major GPS app in the same vein as TomTom and Sygic and features maps for both Australia and New Zealand. American and European versions of CoPilot have been out for a wee while with Gizmodo even naming it ‘Best Cheap GPS App’. We will be testing the app on the mean streets of Christchurch today and will report back with a full review either this evening or tomorrow morning, so keep your eyes peeled here is the review. Dropbox app launched: Review and tips to make the most of it
A few weeks ago, I wrote an article about ways to get MobileMe functionality for free on your iPhone. My solution for emulating iDisk functionality was Dropbox, however at the time it was lacking an all-important feature: an iPhone app. Well, that has been taken care of with the long-awaited release of the official Dropbox iPhone app [iTunes Link] which hit the store yesterday. Kiwi app review: Chopper
Ah, Defender. How many shiny silver coins I wasted in your good name in my youth! For the uninitiated, Defender was a sideways-scrolling shoot-em-up from 1980 in which you controlled a spaceship on an alien planet. The aim of the game was to kill aliens (I believe that was a mandatory sub-plot of all games in the 1980s) and rescue humans, whilst trying to not to crash your spacecraft. Now, in 2009, Kiwi developers Majic Jungle have re-made this classic game in the shape of Chopper for iPhone. But is it worthy of its predecessor?

MobileMe Users – iDisk now available for iPhone
Apple has released their official MobileMe iDisk app to the App Store. The app is great for using your iDisk on-the-go to be able to view and delete stored files from your MobileMe account.
