Kiwi dev linked to rogue premium-rate dialler, costing Brits dearly
British online tech publication The Register have posted an interesting piece involving New Zealand iPhone developer Orsome and AdMob advertising. An advert embedded into the free version of Orsome’s Bubblewrap game featured an AdMob advert which, when clicked, dialled a premium-rate phone number without warning which has racked up large bills for some unsuspecting British users of the app. It’s an interesting read and the first we’ve heard of the bogus practice that was once commonplace on dial-up internet connections.
