Vodafone *finally* confirm that iPhone 4 is available today from 12pm in comically late fashion
Jeez… where was this at midnight? In true ‘chocolate teapot’ fashion, Vodafone have finally sent out an email to those on their ‘pre-registration’ list confirming that the iPhone went on sale an hour and a half before this was sent. Got your Flux Capacitor at the ready? Good, now do me a favour — hit 88mph and drive by MagnumMac Christchurch at 3am this morning and hand me a print-out of this so that I can go home and sleep instead of freeze my ass off unnecessarily. Wow. Seriously? Still no sign of an apology or any announcements from the Voda twitter feed but the Voda website now says “Online sales for iPhone 4 will begin in the coming weeks.”
We’ll make no bones about it: Today’s “launch” has been an epic fail in the PR department… and this doesn’t help. Let’s hope Apple get their act together for their online store faster.…

iPhone launch date set for New Zealand….30th July!
Finally after much waiting and much speculation, we finally have a confirmed launch date for the iPhone 4. 30/07/10 is the date for launch, put it in your diary, we have and we’ll be at MagnumMac in Christchurch on the day.
Currently no pricing or pre-order dates… but keep an eye on the Apple Store, you never know what they may do.

Confirmed: Apple still on-course for July launch of iPhone 4 in NZ
Not sure how this escaped our attention until now but in a press release entitled “iPhone 4 Sales Top 1.7 Million”, Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 4 will still launch in New Zealand by the end of July. There had been speculation that stock shortages which have plagued would-be iPhone 4 owners in the US and other territories would have a knock-on effect on the availability of the device here, much like the situation with the iPad and while it’s not unthinkable that delays could still happen, it does seem very unlikely given that this press release was issued only today with the stock shortages in full-swing and July just around the corner. Apple continues to tease NZ with broken links
Oh, Apple! Why do you continue to tease us so!? Now a ‘pre-order’ button is appearing in the NZ iTunes Music Store that leads to nothing but a dead link. It’s like they’re laughing at us! (OK, melodrama aside: Apple, please stop doing this!). [/rant].
There was also a note on one blog that the iBook store is now live everywhere. I hate to burst that bubble as well but it’s not and neither are the iWork apps. It’s only available to those that are getting the iPad in the first international roll-out (i.e. UK, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy). We will let you know as soon as it is available here.…

Apple make a boo-boo: If only this e-mail were true.
No doubt many of you will have just received this email from Apple. They’ve made a mistake, of course, and this email was clearly supposed to go out to those on the Apple Australia mailing list and not to those in New Zealand. The iPad is still on-track to land in NZ in July as per our earlier post and clicking on the ‘pre-order’ button will whisk you off to Apple Australia which you probably don’t want to do so just delete the email. It’s official: iPad is coming to NZ in July
The Apple NZ website has been updated with two important little words: ‘Coming July’. Yes, folks, the iPad lands in little old New Zealand in July. While it’s more than a month behind the confirmed Australian launch date of May 28th, this is the first time that Apple have provided any kind of date for the release here so it’s better than nothing. Well, this is turning into one rollercoaster ride. Since the initial excitement of the announcement we’ve been through lows and highs and here we are back on a bit of a downer again. Apple has this morning announced that the iPad will be available in the US from April 3rd, and some international territories in late April, but alas New Zealand is not among those locations which are Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. Additional countries (of which we would hope we are one!) are scheduled to get the iPad ‘later this year’.
