It’s an interesting concept: you buy the app for $1.29, and with every update another game is added for free, meaning your initial investment of $1.29 keeps on delivering more-and-more value.
Having started with eight games on-board back in October 2009, the app now boasts an impressive twenty-six games, so the return on investment is very good! But if you’re like me and are sceptical by nature, you’ve probably seen it and thought “26 games for a $1.29? Must be rubbish” and passed on it. OK so this has nothing to do with the iPhone, but I’m certain you’ll forgive me for the diversion. The NZ Film Archive have just launched a celebration of classic kiwi TV ads from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s which they’ve cleverly called Sellebration, and whaddya know… there’s a locally made ad for the Apple II in the line-up! It’s funny stuff that is sure to strike a chord of nostalgia with anyone who remembers this from its original run, but it’s also kind of sad to see how far we’ve come, and yet how far we are from the likelihood of this ever happening again.
