Go. Go. Go. If you have been waiting for pre paid iPhone 5 availability before pulling the trigger Telecom NZ now have you covered. The iPhone 5 is now available on pre pay. To be clear that’s full pre pay buy outright no strings attached not to be confused with open term where by you need to take out a contract and then cancel it straight away. The price is the Apple RRP of $1029 for the 16gb models increasing as you go up in size. Currently all sizes and colors are available. They are available online and at selected stores only. We don’t have a list of stores but we think you can assume the larger retail stores only will have these initially. They can be ordered online here
If you have recently ordered one of these from Apple online and are in the middle of a 4 week wait you can cancel your Apple online order and pick up one of these at no extra cost.
Is this what you have been waiting for? What size and color will you be getting? Let us know in the comments.…Read More
A few weeks ago, I was talking about Apple Inc smashing all the records on the stock market. However, I am sure they were not expecting their shares to go down after the launch of iOS 6 and the iPhone 5.
Ok, so there’s been a few issues with iOS, mainly maps. But when i took this screen shot last week I was a bit shocked.
After the overnight release of the iPhone 5 to 22 more countries including New Zealand it……
The time is nearly upon us. Just hours remain until you are able to buy an iPhone 5 in New Zealand. If you need any details regarding plans pricing or location availability including the midnight stores they are all up on our site. The details are also available on the Vodafone New Zealand and Telecom New Zealand respective websites. We have decided to pitch our tents and hang out with the guy’s at the Telecom NZ store in Auckland at 167 Victoria Street West tonight. We’ll be down there from around 7pm live blogging and tweeting throughout the evening right up until the first iPhone 5 is sold at 12:01am and beyond. We’ll be keeping an eye on the Apple NZ website and we’ll let you know as soon as orders go live there.
So what time should you get there? Well that’s the golden question. As of 1pm today the queues have already started for both the Telco’s in most of the midnight launch locations all be it only one or two people at the moment. If you are planning on heading down to one of the midnight launches our advice would be get down there as early as you can. Keep your eye on the @VodafoneNZ and @TelecomNZ Twitter accounts as they will no doubt be tweeting queue pictures which should help you out. Also keep your eye on our own Twitter account @iphonewzealand and we will try and keep you updated with the queues around the country. We will be using the hastag #i5NZ so tag all your launch tweets with that.
If you are heading down to Telecom NZ in Auckland for the midnight launch we’ll see you there!
Good luck and stay safe!…Read More

The countdown until the iPhone 5 is available for purchase in New Zealand is getting so close. Within the last couple of days Telecom has opened for pre-orders and released their plans that will be available for the iPhone 5.
There is no telling how long it will take for your iPhone 5 to arrive if you pre-order it online through Telecom until you finish the purchase. So if anyone has ordered one, please let us know what they say.
At first glance Telecom plans look really good, the minutes and text allowances have increased from the original iPhone 4S plans seen here in Ben’s blog.
These iPhone 5 plans and handset prices are actually exactly the same for an iPhone 4S from Telecom. Surely people wont buy a 4S when the iPhone 5 is the same price on a plan.
Read on to see Telecom and Vodafone iPhone 5 plans
So I am sure everyone has been buzzing over the Apple announcement yesterday morning, regarding the new iPhone 5, iOS 6 and iPod updates. The time zone difference worked perfectly for me, waking up early on my birthday to watch a perfect run down of the event from Ben.
The most exciting thing is that iOS 6 will be available for download next Thursday New Zealand time. This means that we can play around with most of the new features before the release of the iPhone 5 in New Zealand on the 28th of September.
According to an article by Tom Pullar-Strecker, the iPhone 5:
“will carry a recommended retail price here of $1049 for the 16GB model, $1199 for the 32GB model and $1349 for the 64GB model”.
Obviously Vodafone and Telecom will come up with some plans which will make the handset somewhat cheaper. It will be interesting to see whether they stick with the existing plans or create a new set.
To be honest, I can not wait for the iPhone 5. The design of the handset looks so sleek and well created, I am going to have no problems upgrading from an iPhone 4. How do you feel about it? take the poll above and lets see what the consensus is, I am thinking it will be pretty one-sided.…Read More
