No tethering on XT? How about a free T-Stick instead.
So some of you may have seen that Telecom have just announced that from tomorrow they are giving away prepaid Mobile Broadband T-Sticks worth $99. Now I know this isn’t really for iPhone… but for those that lost the ability to tether it could be a good opportunity to get back online whilst out and about. Poll: How important is tethering to you?
Ok so I have spent a fair amount of time trying to get tethering back up and running for OS 3.1 and over, using XT or 2Degrees. The trouble is, after every turn I am hitting brick walls. So my question to you the reader is how important is it to you?

A quick heads-up. The new OS 3.1, launched this morning, will break tethering for XT and 2degrees users. Do not download it if you require tethering, but go right ahead and update if you don’t.
What’s happened?…Apple now signs the apn’s within the carrier bundles. This means if there is no signature against the Tethering APN it will not work (all other functionality is fine though). We are working on a fix for this and as soon as we have it the bundles will be updated and we’ll let you know.

Tethering broken in OS 3.1 beta 2: Confirmed
The release of iPhone OS 3.1 beta 2 has seen tethering via the IPCC workaround no longer working for XT and soon to be 2Degrees customers.
