Read on for this quick tip to get this set up with just a few taps.
Follow the steps below and you will be finding text in web pages in no time.

Step one

Add any bookmark to your iPhone, for the purpose of this tip I will use good old Google. Go to Google on your iPhone Safari browser.

Hit the Plus symbol and add the bookmark in the usual way, hit done and save.

Step two. Edit the Bookmark.

Go to your bookmarks and hit edit, now find the Google bookmark you just added.

Change the title of the bookmark to “Find in Page” or anything else you choose. Then in the bookmark address replace
http://google.co.nz
with this JavaScript text:

javascript:void%28s%3Dprompt%28%27Find%20text%3A%27%2C%27%27%29%29%3Bs
%3D%27%28%27+s+%27%29%27%3Bx%3Dnew%20RegExp%28s%2C%27gi%27%29%3Brn
%3DMath.floor%28Math.random%28%29*100%29%3Brid%3D%27z%27%20+%20rn%3Bb
%20%3D%20document.body.innerHTML%3Bb%3Db.replace%28x%2C%27%3Cspan
%20%27%20style%3D%5C%27color%3A%23000%3Bbackground-color%3Ayellow%3B
%20font-weight%3Abold%3B%5C%27%3E%241%3C/span%3E%27%29%3Bvoid
%28document.body.innerHTML%3Db%29%3Balert%28%27Found%20%27%20+
%20document.getElementsByName%28rid%29.length%20+%20%27%20matches.
%27%29%3Bwindow.scrollTo%280%2Cdocument.getElementsByName%28rid
%29%5B0%5D.offsetTop%29%3B

Hit Done and you’re ready to use the bookmark.

Sometimes, an App you downloaded just isn’t up to scratch. There are some developers that will create a free version of an App to give you a tester before you buy. This is a great option and we’d like to see all paid apps have this but unfortunately it is not a requirement and sometimes there is real reason to claim a refund. An example of this is an Augmented Reality App called Robotvision which is $1.29. It uses Bing for search and because of this it doesn’t work properly here in NZ. I should therefore be entitled to a refund, I know it’s only $1.29 but that’s not the point.

So how do you go about it? Well, Apple do have a policy that allows you to claim a refund of the amount you’ve spent and gives 90 days for customers…

I don’t know what it is but dates like Anzac Day, Father’s Day — they just never seem to stick in my mind. Other people always know though, don’t they? They’re always planning long weekends and making you feel like an idiot when they ask what you’re doing for Labour Day and you haven’t even realised it’s a week away. Well, now you can be like those other people with this handy hint!

Adding shared and public calendars in the .ics format to your iPhone’s calendar app is an absolute breeze. There is one easy step:

1. Email yourself the URL of the calendar and click it.

2. That’s it! No, really. That’s it.

To get you started, here are the URLs for Google’s NZ and UK public holidays calendars:

NZ: http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/new_zealand__en%40holiday.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

UK: http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/uk__en%40holiday.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

For more, just login to Google Calendar if you have an account (create one if you don’t) and click on ‘more’ in the ‘other calendars’ box on the left of the screen, then choose ‘public calendar’. You will be presented with a list of…

Called simply ‘Remote‘, it’s a fantastic app that turns your iPhone into a remote control for iTunes on your Mac or PC. Even if you have downloaded it already, you may not be aware of all the ways you can use this app to turn your home computer into a music powerhouse. Read on for our definitive guide.

Getting up and running couldn’t be simpler. Download the app, and with iTunes running on your computer, start it. Your iPhone will find your computer’s iTunes library. Select it, and Remote will generate a 4-digit pin code for you. In iTunes, you will now see the remote control appear as a ‘device’ in the left-hand sidebar around where your iPhone would normally appear when connected via USB. Click it, and you will be asked to enter the 4-digit pin code from your iPhone. Once entered, the two devices are paired. You only need ever do this once.

So you’ve installed the carrier bundle, you’ve had a play and realised you have used a ton of data on your iPhone. You now wait for the bill and pray it’s not going to be *that* bad.
If that sounds familiar and you’d like to be able to disable data (mobile data that is, not wi-fi) then you’ll want to download our ‘Data Blocker’ config file. Full details can be found by hitting the image below.

NOTE: This has only been tested on 3G and 3GS running 3.0 or higher
Note: You must also set Emails, Calendars and Contacts to ‘manual check’
This is not guaranteed to stop all data and you may still get charged

Those cold, dark mornings aren’t exactly conducive to getting your arse into gear and getting to work on time, are they? If you’re anything like me you dither around in the morning trying to keep warm and telling yourself “just another minute” before forcing yourself out the door to go to work. And then, as if as punishment from some time-keeping God, you hit traffic. Bad traffic. Or, if you’re bussing, the bus whizzes past you before you get to the bus stop and the next one is 20 minutes away. However with the right tools on board your iPhone, this reality needn’t be yours.

As we all know, your iPhone comes equipped with Google Maps and using GPS it can plan your route and track your progress along the way. But throw into the mix one of the many New Zealand traffic apps available on the App Store and you have not just a route but an indication of how busy the route is likely to be. Just type the word ‘traffic’ into the App Store and you’ll find a plethora of apps that utilize feeds from Land Transport’s numerous webcams all around the…
