New Zealand Developers Showcased by Apple
We already knew that we had some great developers here in New Zealand and now, for AlphaSprite, Apple know it too.
You may remember back in September last year we took a look at CoachPad, an app for the iPad that allows you to sketch out and display formations and tactics all using your iPad in a simple and intuitive way. Well now that same app has been included in Apple’s latest iPad 2 television advert.
Airing in November 2011, it revolves around the emotive theme of ‘Love’ and how people engage with the iPad 2 on a daily basis. CoachPad appears at the beginning of the clip where a basketball coach shows a gameplay strategy to his team on an iPad 2.
Congrats AlphaSprite.…
Read MoreSky TV app for iPad and iPhone coming soon, no really it is!
No this isn’t just another post saying we believe it may be on its way possibly at some point but we don’t know for sure. This is a post that is telling you it is on its way, we know what it will have, roughly when it will be available and there are even screenshots (albeit very small ones) courtesy of Sky. Sky will be supplying us with a preview copy ahead of release so keep your eyes peeled on the site for that, but in the meantime keep reading for the details.…

OK so this has nothing to do with the iPhone, but I’m certain you’ll forgive me for the diversion. The NZ Film Archive have just launched a celebration of classic kiwi TV ads from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s which they’ve cleverly called Sellebration, and whaddya know… there’s a locally made ad for the Apple II in the line-up! It’s funny stuff that is sure to strike a chord of nostalgia with anyone who remembers this from its original run, but it’s also kind of sad to see how far we’ve come, and yet how far we are from the likelihood of this ever happening again. Hit ‘read more’ for the link, and while you’re there stick around for the rest of the collection.…
Read MoreReview: TVNZ app likely to be massively popular
You know that the iPhone has won hearts and minds in New Zealand when the local big-players start writing native apps for it – and this TVNZ app is one of those milestones that says it so well. It’s great to see our own state-owned mother-of-the-airwaves embracing the digital future and joining the likes of the BBC and CNN by going all 21st Century on us and putting some of its most beloved intellectual property right in our pockets – but is it any good, or is it a waste of tax-payer money?…
