The new iTunes 11 from Apple was expected to be available by the end of October, but here we are on the last day of the month and there is no sign of it.

When speaking to CNET, Tom Neumayr, who is an Apple spokesperson said the following:

 

“The new iTunes is taking longer than expected and we wanted to take a little extra time to get it right, we look forward to releasing this new version of iTunes with its dramatically simpler and cleaner interface, and seamless integration with iCloud before the end of November”.

Apple is usually pretty organised when it comes to the release of new products so this feels a little weird. Some of the recent events might help explain the delay.

Recently Apple has been in the news about their executive reshuffle. This included the announcement that the Senior Vice President of iOS software Scott Forstall will be leaving Apple. Forstall is a man which you may have seen in some of the iPhone and iPad videos and was once believed to be in the running to be CEO after Steve Jobs.

There have been a number of other changes within the structure of the Apple organisation announced over the last few days, maybe this has something to do with the iTunes delay.

I am sure the delay of iTunes will not be a significant problem for most users, but the fact that they said it would be here by the end of the month is a little frustrating. A lot of people were also expecting it to be involved in the recent keynote presentation.

The new iTunes will have a number of new features including increased iCloud integration and a brand new mini player.
